Starting Over, saying "Hello" and need to find stuff...

Hello Everyone!

Well, the last model I built was some thirteen years ago! Don't ask why, but after the long hiatus I've decided to pick the hobby back up and shake it by it's ears.

My youngest son (Jake, he's now eight) found my old modeling tools box (a fish and tackle box) and asked me what it was. He and I sat down last night and cleaned out all the old paints and junk parts and then opened my model treasure chest to see what I had packed away all those years ago.

I picked up a Tamiya Bradley from Hobby Lobby (last day for 1/2 off!) last night along with all the regular consumables. The Bradley will become part of a larger diorama which will include an Abrams and several figures. And Jake selected a snap-together Jetson's Spaceship from Polar Lights that looks like alot of fun.

Seems like alot has changed (and improved) since I've been away from the hobby. It was a shock to see how high the prices have gone for some kits! There are several items I'm having trouble finding, perhaps someone here could help?

1. Citadel Colour paints. Usually sold where Dungens and Dragons type metal figures could be found. These were very popular back in the late 1980's and early 1990's. These are excellent paints for figures. Any ideas?

2. Back in 1989/1990 I helped start a modeling club in Mayport, Florida. We met at a local hobby shop located right outside the Mayport Naval Station - the guy that ran the shop was big into slot cars and had a huge track. Well, I went away on a six month cruise and when I came back the shop was closed - and he had about fifteen of my dioramas on display. I believe the owner's name was Baker, but don't quote me on that. Now, it's been over 13 years so I'm not holding my breath, but I'd like to get in touch with those guys again (and maybe find out what happened to those dioramas).... any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Mark, and welcome to the asylum. I personally can't help you with your questions. But I'd bet you'll have an answer to at least the first one before to long.

Thanks. I found out that Citadel Colour is now carried exclusively by Games Workshop and is only available through them. Prices arn't great, but the paint is worth it (at least it was back in 1990!).
