I am Michael C. Bernhardt, the oldest son of Berny13 aka, Phantom Phixer, aka Bill C. Bernhardt, and also retired AF. Dad and I built models together when I was a kid, and as most kids I outgrew doing things with Dad, my loss.

While Dad was a Crew Chief on F-4's most of his career, I was an Aircrew Life Support technician, always answering Dad's questions on G-suits, flightsuits, helmets, O2 masks, ejection systems etc. Now that I am retired with too much time on my hands, I have decided to build my first model since the 70's. Boy do I got a lot to learn. Having always had a love for Military History (Thanks to Dad), my first venture will be a basic Revell B-17G, we'll see how that goes.

Spent my career doing Life Support on OV-10A's, F-15A, B, C, D's, MC-130E's, C-130E's, C-130J's, C-130E's ABCCC, C-9A's, MC-130N, P's.

Welcome to the forum. I considered your father a friend, and miss him. I suspect you'll be the fellow who helped Berny and some of us ship paint to Iraq a few years ago.

So long folks!

Yes that would be me, took it with me on my deployment to Uzbeikistan, and then mailed it in country to the guys it was intended for.

Then thank you for doing that. I sent a lot of kits and supplies to Iraq, Kandahar and Kosovo over the years, and rarely got the chance to thank the people who did the actual transfer.

I spoke to your dad a couple of weeks before he died, and while you could tell his body was failing him, his strength of character was in full evidence. He spoke of how proud he was of his sons and family.

So long folks!
