Hello from sunny (I wish) Liverpool
Posted by dierk on Friday, February 10, 2012 12:44 PM

Hello everybody!

Unfortunately, I'm a very slow builder, but I promise to post pictures as and when I've got something to show. My area of interest are soviet pre- WWII and WWII vehicles in 1/35 scale. But, my main reason for being here is to provide updates of forthcoming releases of the absolutely excellent Live-Resin products. The manufacturer has asked me to help him spread the word, as he is too busy producing the stuff to do it himself.

I'm currently trying to make something presentable out of the Academy M3A1 Stuart...with mixed results Crying First problem I ran into is that the AFVClub running gear, which is supposed to be a compatible replacement...isn't, so I've had to scratch the hull sides...

cheers,

dierk

Welcome aboard dierk. Academy kits have left me puzzling a few times too, but they do build into nice models eventually.

Welcome Sign Awesome, somewhat silly, satirical humour within. Proceed if you are aware of and accept the risks, and wish to express admiration for this band of bizarre modelers.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

@ Mike 'track-head' Wink The 'Stewie' is my first Academy kit - only got back to the hobby just over a year ago - the top half isn't too bad, but on the lower hull some rivet detail is missing, the road-wheels are wrong and the bogies and idler-wheel mountings are really crude compared to the AFV Club set. My main gripe is with AFV though, as the set is supposed to be compatible with the Academy kit - and it just isn't.

@ Tom: 'Awesome, somewhat silly, satirical humour within' sounds like my cup of tea Big Smile and where admiration is due I will be most happy to express it Big Smile

Next I'll have to suss out how to post pictures...

Cheers,

Dierk

Okay, I’ll admit that I was a rocket scientist (aerospace engineer, really), but its not that hard, really, I promise. (There are several ways to do this. Just follow the sound of my voice…)

Go to the Photobucket Album page and click on the thumbnail. This brings up a viewing window.

In another tab/window, fire-up the FSM forum composition panel you want to post into. Compose. When you’re ready to insert your photo…

Go back to the Photobucket tab. Highlight the SECOND entry (the Direct Link button). Do NOT do anything that disturbs the copy buffer.

Once again, go to the FSM post-in-progress. On the SECOND tier of the message control bar, the TWELFTH icon, the aqua-colored one that looks like a swatch of film (you remember film? But I digress…) It says ‘Insert Media CLICK IT.

Another panel opens! You’re almost there

Send (Ctrl-V) the URL you copied from Photobucket four steps back. The ‘Insert Mediapanel closes and your image is inserted, like this

This grainy satellite photo shows a facility that we
suspect is an enriching plastic to weapons grade.

THATS IT! The rest is just the fiddly bits & formatting.

Like this? Wink

The above is the venerable, nay old, Tamiya Universal Carrier, with Resicast tracks, Armo decals, TANK and Miniart goodies and a bit of Eduard PE.

Now then, 'he who knows everything' - where would be the best place to post news of new releases and planned releases? I've just received some exiting news from Live-Resin and would like to share it with this fine community.

Below is Dragon's Red Army Sherman, again with decals from Armo, otherwise mostly OOB as it was a test-bed to try out, new to me, painting techniques.
