New to forum and looking for some info
Posted by npdk9 on Friday, March 2, 2012 6:42 AM

Greetings all. My name is Harry and I am new to the forum. I have built models all my life, but nowhere near the detail you folks put into yours. I want to try one though. I was given a 1/350 scale model of the USS Enterprise CVN-65 with the old style bridge and mast. I have found a few web sites where I can order period aircraft. A few questions though. First, the model is molded in a dark gray. What is a good color to paint the model that would accurately reflect the actual color. Keep in mind that I don't have any type of airbrush equipment and am not planning on buying any until I see how my patience goes with this model. Second, where can I get decals for the aircraft. Thanks for all help. Any body with any ideas is welcomed to contact me via email at harry.twiford@norfolk.gov.

Best use the "Search our Community" first, then ask a question.
(112 items for "USS Enterprise CVN-65".) Don’t use "E-mail addresses"!!!
Use "Search our Community" (a page down).

The color is called Haze Gray. I have read from several USN types on here that Neutral Gray FS 36270 is a good choice to use for post WWII USN ships. Guship Gray 36118 is supposed to be a good match for USN post WWII Deck Gray. Most paint lines have these colors in their enamle or acrylic lines.
