Hello everyone

This is my first post so here goes: first im no typist so forgive spelling im a model maker not a typist ive been modelling  for the past 50+ years so if its out there ive either built it try,d to build it or said **** can,t do that. Im currently building a scratch biult plank on frame 1/48 scale wooden model of the Astrolabe ( it was a french frigate going way back to the days of sale). But my emediate project is building a silent compressor so i can airbrush without having to clear the noise my compressor makes with the local police.  I,m using a fridge motor married to my old compressor and some of your members have made the same. In the forum i looked at prior to joining  they asked the question why does a fridge compressor nead oil its in an enclosed tin  the oil is used to lubricate EVERYTHING so you need to add oil now and then because the piston that supplys the compressed air uses that same oil thats why you need an oil trap if you make one . The amount lost is so small but over time if you dont put some back in the whole compressor will seaxe very abruptly and usualy half way through a very important job and you will always see were it died when you look at your model. Good luck to all byeeeeee

Welcome Sign Modelling is an obsession, an occupation, a disease, an addiction, a fascination, an absurdity, a fate. It is not a weak mind’s hobby. Those who do it must do it. Those who do not do it, think of it as a cousin of stamp collecting, a sister of the trophy cabinet, and [dinkywongo] of a sound bank account.
