Hello Finescale Folks,

I have recently began modeling as a hobby here in eastern NC. Prior to me starting an AMT '57 Chevy Stepside I have never built a model. This kit was a gift a few years ago and was stashed away in my closet. Looking forward to getting to know a few of you talented modelers to learn some tips and tricks, and boydo I need them! I am kind of on a limited budget so no airbrush, high-end paint, high-end model kits, etc. for a while. I am going to post my very first Work In Progress (WIP?) In the auto section.

Welcome Jeff!

I'll tell ya one thing, I've been building model airplanes non-stop since I was 7 years old back in 1977.  Even thought I've been building since then, I still learn something new each and every time I come to this forum to ask for help.  You'll have a lot of friends here to help you out and to offer encouragement.  I'm a member of three other model forums and, far and away, the FSM forum is the friendliest and most encouraging forum.  Because of all the help I get here, I think I'm always trying and learning new things which each model I build.

Can't wait to see your work in progress so post some pics when you can.  Again, welcome to the forum!  Welcome Sign

Welcome to the forums! And we'd like to see the pictures soon! A can or tho of spray paint and a sharp paintbrush should do for this build. Good luck and have a nice day

Work in Progress is posted in the Auto Forum! I am using a cheap can of spray paint for the body, as you can tell in the post, it needs to be sanded and redone. I also am using some testors enamels? I just have a limited color selection currently.

Thanks for the welcomes, looking forward to learning new skills/techniques, as well as commenting on the amazing models that are displayed on this board!

“The time has come,” the Modeler said,
“To talk of many things:
Of armor — and ships — and photoetch —
Of Tigers — and Spitfires —
And why the Tamaiya is boiling hot —
And whether Photobucket have your images.”

Welcome aboard. And don't worry, we except brand new modellers as well as those returning to the hobby.

You have come to the right place to pick up some great ideas.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Um well, hey welcome first!......now when I returned after 25 years, I built a basic old monogram SBD and just brush painted it like I used to do.........then I subscribed to FSM and that's when I started saving articles, searching the web for all the latest techniques, new paints, kit reviews, and reading the forums, asking the dumb questions and everybody is pretty helpful here. I just don't post that much that much.

Sometimes overwhelming to see the work that shows up on these posts, but wow too!

If I were you, I'd review a bunch of the posts in the model car section and see what's going on.......Take your best shot, see what works, see what mistakes you make and go from there.....
