Just got back in after a long hiatus myself.  We returning modellers are probably saving the industry, LOL.

The people on this board are a good mix and a decent lot.  Ask, and I'm sure someone here can, and will, answer.  The talk is sometimes spirited, and always fun.  I lurked several  modelling boards for a while before I finally joined this one.  Welcome Sign

Thanks!

For informational purposes, I did find the magnifying workstation I was looking for... but not at a modeling site.

Electronics... that's where the action is!  Toast

Let us now conjugate the adjective (to be) “obsessive”:
I’m painstakingly thorough.
You’re a fussbutt.
He/she/it’s anal retentive.

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

Once Upon a Time...

Another returning modeler (plastic ones, anyway).  I recently moved to a new job, leaving friends and family behind, but brought along a box of old models that have traveled with me from place to place for over 40 years.  They've always been boxed up, and I've always had the intention of redoing them in a more polished manner, even going so far as to disassemble some of them.  Now I've got some time on my hands, and a good income, and I can devote the time (and patience) to the task.  A daunting one, as my eyes are bad at close work.  My glasses enable me to see a computer monitor, but fine detail is out of the question.

I need a magnifying work station.  If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know.

The models (and these are from late 60s, early 70s) on the bench are:

* Monogram P-47D bubbletop (a real Monogram, molded in brown plastic)

* Monogram Mosquito

* Hawk P-51D

* (unknown) Bf-109E

* Monogram Hawker Hurricane

* (unknown) Me-262

I know there are much better kits out now, but these have been with me for most of my life. Dumping them would be like getting rid of a part of me.  So I have a man's work ahead, and have signed on to FSM forums in order to learn from the best.

And I hope this will end "He lived happily modeling ever after."  ;)
