Hi

I'm a Canadian presently in the process of retiring from my executive career and moving to beautiful Nova Scotia with my equally beautiful and ever tolerant wife.

I've been modeling for thirty years. Initially I was interested in WW1 aviation subjects. Thirty years ago that meant I had to learn scratch building and vacform techniques. I then became interested in "golden age" aircraft which again entailed a lot of scratch building. I then progressed to WW2 subjects.

Like many others in this hobby I began collecting kits. Each one was going to be my next build! I swore that I would, at least, not become interested in jet aircraft........except I really loved the F86 Sabre....so maybe I'd make an exception. My wife then indicated that her favorite aircraft was the F16. The floodgates opened and now I build and collect aircraft kits across the entire aviation history. I've convinced myself that since I only build in 48 and 32 scales, with few exceptions of course, it's not too bad.

I tried to cull my collection for my move to Nova Scotia but without much success. The movers commented on the lightness of even the larger boxes which at least made me feel pretty good.

As usual I've talked too much. I look forward to posting both comments and questions in future and perhaps even showing some of my models.

Hi Vespers,

Welcome Sign

I, too, am retired and only recently got back to this hobby and to this site. Wonderful people here -  looking forward to your posts.  And, the best on your move to Nova Scotia. My wife and I visited there a number of years ago. Overnight ferry from Portland, ME to Yarmouth then a drive to Halifax. Lots of pleasant memories and shortly before Penny's Cove became famous because of the the TWA Flight 800 (?) incident. I agree, beautiful country.

Welcome to the forum Vespers!

Good luck with the move - make sure to wrap all those completed builds securely.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

PS: must be something about the F-16.  My girlfriend randomly bought me a model for my birthday last year and it was the Tamiy a 1/48 F-16 Block 25/32.  I guess it was the one that looked the best to her too.  Don't want to attempt it yet, until i've improved my skills a bit.

Regards,

Chris

  Welcome To the forum.

It's good you have a hobby, it's good you have a "stash" (of models), it's good you have a new home to build in, but it's especially good you have a " beautiful and ever tolerant wife"!  Now that makes it all possible and alright.

Welcome! I wish I could get my wife to tell me her favorite anything.  (just kidding)

Hope to see you around the forum.
