Hi Shrikes,

As far as I can tell, the small mini jars and the large regular acrylics are the same formulation. I thought the small jars were pretty cute but after looking at the amount of paint in the jar I decided it's not a good deal. Those jars contain as much paint as the tiny square testor bottles.

Polly Scale acrylic and Testors new Acryl to a lessor extant have very good brushing properties. I think they are as good as the enamels, but unfortunately you probably can't get them very easily where you are.

Yup, i'm strictly a brush user (except for the odd rattle can). I'm too "financially challenged" for an airbrush Sad [:(] And, yes, i was refering to tamiya acrylics. they come in smaller jars than they used to, so i'm assuming they redid the formula, or whatever. i remember trying to paint a canopy with acrylic olive drab and it would run everywhere and wouldn't stay where i put it. it would even seep under the masking tape whenever i used the stuff. So, i made the switch to enamels. a bit trickier to thin and clean, but i think it's well worth it.

If enamels make you sick then you got no choice than to use acrylics. It's not worth sacrificing your health. Vallejo is an excellent line of acrylics for figure painting.

There's are many different brands of acrylics out there, many very good for model building. Acrylic paint across different brands tend to have more different properties than enamel paints so you need to learn the perculiarity of each brand.

Welcome to the forums, Moshed!

I too, made the switch to Acrylics and haven't looked back since. Mush easier to work with and very easy clean-up (especially in airbrushes)

I still use enamels, but only for drybrushing when weathering.

Welcome to the forums, Moshed! So, what is it you like to build? You mentioned figures in your post.

I used to use acrylics, but i got really frustrated with its lack of fine control... Now i use mainly enamels but i've been hearing good things about the New line of Tamiya Acrylics... Sigh [sigh] i wonder how much it'll cost to switch back?? Big Smile [:D] Again, welcome to the forums!!

Welcome to the Forum.

I got the 4 Model Mania Video tapes too, great stuff. Just wish that he would release number 5 already.

The colours will work pretty much the same regardless of the scale that you use them for.
I am using Gunze paints from 1/100 to 1/4 scale and have got no problems.
