Really. I spent a week on board an RN sub, just cruising around the channel, they had plenty of bear of there. I would imagine there is a limit on RN ships, i would guess 2 cans a day while at sea. Thats what we were limited to when we were on tours like Ireland and bosnia.

But once they get on shore, those navy boys can drink.

I had a buddy who crew swapped with some Australian Navy squids.  He loved the fact that they all got to drink booze at the end of the day onboard their ship.  US Navy isn't allowed booze unless we are out to sea more than 45 days, and then it's only 2 beers per sailor...

Well, the Brits are well known for being boozers.If the night hasn't ended covered in sick and laying in the gutter, it wasn't a proper night out. And i don't think the Aussies are far off.

And its all good banter. Were would we be without the good old RAF. Walking a lot more probably.

Your a braver man than me. I spent a week on a ship going round the falklands. We never got more than 10 miles from land, that as more than enough from me.

I was in the Infantry and i did a few different things. As well as a regular GRUNT, i spent some time in unit intelligance, a few years in our MILAN paltoon, thats a wire guided AT weapon system. Also spent a few years driving Warriors. And some time in the stores. I spent my last 5 years attached to a unit called JHSU. We worked closely with helicopters doing underslung loads mainly.

22 years is the max you can do as an OR in the British Army, except under certain circumstances. I did apply to stay on, but given the curret cutbacks, i didn't have high hopes. I only came out in Oct.

Theres quite a few ex service on here. There may even be the odd one form the airforce (well, we have to humour them don't we) . You should be well at home.

Second, Bish, I resemble that Air Farce (spelling intentional) remark!   Seriously, I was in Desert Storm (and many trips afterwards) and I had the absolute honor and pleasure of working with the Brits and Aussies!  Great bunch of troops that worked hard and partied harder.  I thought I could hold my own when it came to drinking, but good night!  Is that part of your training!? To our brothers in arms!

And i reckon theres plenty of Brits who couldn't tell you were Norfolk in England is, and we are a lot smaller than you are.

Don't want to hijack so a big from me too! But Bish, have you ever heard of East Liverpool? I was born there (parents born in England) but it seems to me it's very far west of the REAL Liverpool. BTW the East Liverpool I was born in is in Ohio. Anyway, welcome back and thanks for your service Duogrey (and Bish).

Yes sir, Navy man.  I was an electrician, then changed jobs to mineman (swept for waterborn mines).  Only did 5 years.  Needs of the Navy, and the Navy didn't need me anymore.  LOL...seriously though, big down-sizing in the military right now so they let me go early (Honorable Discharge).  What did you do  in the British Army?

If you mean Norfolk Virginia, i know thats a big US naval base there, then no. I am from Norfolk in England. That saying is from a sailor, the great man himself, Nelson

You know, you could be right. I just remembered something , I had a scan of my head done a while back because of bad headaches. After the test, they told me that they couldn't find anything between my right ear and my left ear. Do you think that could be the reason? The glue and paint fumes dissolved my brain. Oh boy, better not let my wife hear that. I've been using the results of that scan as an excuse for forgetting things. She might take my glue and paint away from me. Oh noooooooooooooooo.

Fox, are you sure its the age, it could be all that glue and paint sniffing we do.

You post the pics in the forum that the build is in. Planes go in the aircraft Forum,Armour in the armour, cars in the car forum, etc.     They have to make it that easy for all the "old timers" like me that have a lot of trouble with these new fangled gadgets called computers. When you get to be my age you'll understand. The first thing that goes is ..............uhhhhhh...............ummmmmmmm.........when I remember, I'll let you know.

welcome back,things have certainly changed,lots to learn here.

Thanks all!  I will definitely post my current project.  I am almost finished.  Building an F-18 Super Hornet (1/48).  I must say the "ol chops" come back pretty quick, kind of like riding a bicycle.  So...pics soon to come.
