Model enthusiasts,
My name is Don. I formerly resided in Alabama until my divorce and now I call Ketchikan home. The climate here dictates a lot of indoor time and what could possibly be more rewarding a pursuit than tank construction? I had amassed a huge kit stash and rarely completed any projects. Unfortunatly, the ex sold or trashed the bulk of my collection (around 900 mostly DML kits). Fortunatly, my Cyberhobby kits were relocated to a safe place prior to this tragedy. I have built seven of these over the past few weeks and have achieved decent results with Very basic tools. The total lack of hobby retailers here make internet purchases the norm. I miss walking into shops and browsing, but it is not a bad trade-off for the scenery here.
My modelling world view sees 1/35 figures as the penultimate challenge with armor and soft-skins serving as backdrops. People tell the tale. I had also fallen in love with the sculptures by Games Workshop as I really have always been a Sci-fi fan (Star Wars at age 4 changed me). A photo in FineScale of a reader's Imperial Guard Scout walker promted me to purchase one. After super-detailing it, I was hooked. I have never played the game but love to collect and bash their figurines and transports, I guess the lesson here is not to narrow one's focus to one genre.
I am looking forward to communicating with fellow enthusiasts on this Forum. Happy Modelling!
Don B.
