I think you may find things have changed a little in 45 years. Most of us have taken a break from the hobby, whether it been a couple of years or a couple of decades. Dive in an d enjoy. And be sure to post some pics.

Thanks for the welcome, There was a small boat referred to as a Stanley Steamer but I was talking about an auto made in in the U.S. during the early part of the 1900's. It ran on acoal fired steam engine and was quite fast for it's era

Welcome joesal!  Very cool build for your first one back after your hiatus.  Most of us have had a long "rest" period and have jumped back in to the hobby.  Just remember, it's a hobby and have fun!  Oh, and post pics!  Your steamer will be very neat to watch!

Yes, a Stanley Steamer is a very old car.  Also, the name is used for a carpet cleaner these days!  I remember building a Stanley Steamer Revell Highways Pioneers car kit, way back in the early days, late 1940's or early 50's.  These were the earliest of plastic model kits. Great memories!  I recently saw a real one in the transportation museum in Denver.

welcome, joesal! retired? awesome, now you got time to build. I'm sure we're going to learn plenty from your work. Is that Steamer a kit? Who makes it? I would love to build that old beauty.

Welcome aboard. I retired back in 06 and seems I had more time to build when I was working than now! I suggest that you browse thru this and other modeling sites to catch up on products and techniques, a lot has changed.

aurora made a 1/16 still easy to find on e-bay
