New to the Hobby
Posted by Maj. Woody on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 5:44 AM

Hi Folks.

My name is Dom and I am new to the forum. I am an aviation enthusiast who has been building R/C Aircraft for over 30 years. I particularly enjoy Warbirds and Jets. I am very accomplished in that segment of the hobby. My building and flying skills are excellent. I have been a demo pilot for different Jet Model manufacturers in the past. I also enjoy full scale aviation and own a pristine 1968 Cessna 150H. I am going try my hand at making Scale models. I must admit to being intimidated by working on such a small scale. Although I intend to build 1/32 scale models which are probably huge to some of you, you must realize that I am used to working on models with over a 90" wingspan with cockpits that accept 12" tall pilot figures. Painting models, weathering and cockpit detail are the norm for me with R/C. But the idea of doing that with minute parts seems almost impossible to me. I look forward to participating in the forum and learning from everyone experience.

Welcome to the Forums Dom! Glad to have you aboard! I've been building models of all types for 67 of my 73 years. Also went the R/C route for about 10 years flying planes and racing R/C sailboats. Gave up on the planes as I got too proficient at shall we say lousy landings that resulted in a pile of expensive parts and gear scattered over the landscape. Embarrassed Did a LOT better with the sailboats. Big Smile

Don't forget to post lots of pics of your builds. That's what keeps everyone on here happy. A pic or two of your R/C planes couldn't hurt either.

Welcome to the Forums Dom! I am definitely looking forward to some of your 1/32s. I'm betting you'll do just fine and turn out some outstanding builds with us. Be sure to share some pics of your endeavors. We really like that.
