New to the Forum and love modeling
Posted by sonofajugpilot on Friday, January 24, 2014 9:46 AM

Greetings fellow hobbyists!

I'm new to the forum as of yesterday. My father was a P-47 pilot in Europe during the second WW and he belonged to the 513th fighter squadron / 406th fighter group. Because of the stories he told me as a child (most with tears) I became extremely interested in aviation. Strangely enough, I don't model WW2 aircraft but swing more toward the Golden Age of aviation. I also have a rather strong interest in Science Fiction but I feel that it stems from the fact that I am a baby boomer and we "boomers" just didn't get enough of those great movies and TV shows. Now that companies like Polar Lights and Moebius are producing kit after kit of those old classics, our world of SciFi modeling has become much larger.

Thanks and I hope to get to know some of the great minds of fellow modelers out there.

Happy Modeling!

Welcome aboard!

Last fall I read a book called "Hell Hawks". That one was about the 365th FG, which also flew Thunderbolts. It was a great read.

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!

I have to agree with you about there being some great minds here. But, there are also quite a few of us with not so great minds from sniffing all those paint and glue fumes over the years. I've been building for 67 of my 73 years and that means a lot of "tubes" of glue and bottles of paint of all types have passed through my hands (and past my nose). Wink

Enjoy, and don't forget to post pics of your builds. That's what really keeps the guys happy.

P.S. I build whatever trikes my fancy at the time.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
