I recently re-subscribed to FSM and starting to get back into the hobby after 20+ years being away. I've built cars, trucks and aircraft in the past, albeit on an extremely novice level, but i'm jumping back in with huge ambitions.
Have been studying the techniques, tutorials and tips at FSM and various other places online. I've decided to attempt to recreate a truck i drove quite often when I worked for my father just after getting out of the US Navy (avionics tech, F-14A, TARPS equipped). The truck was a '79 Ford F350 Custom one ton, with a sort of unique flatbed my dad built himself. I've had this build on my mind even back before I stopped modelling.
Now, with the re-issue of the AMT 79 Super Stones, I've started on the project. I'm kitbashing that one, plus the Monogram F350 extended cab dually i managed to score on e-bay. I'm not concerned with matching the exact scales and measrements. I'm just trying to re-create the truck from memory, photos and aftermarket parts as closely as i can.
I'll try to post the project with photo's in the appropriate forum as i progress.
Incidentally, since i was attached to the squadron that shot down 2 Lybian MIGs in Jan, 89 (VF-32), another future goal is to build one or 2 F-14A's with the squadron's paint scheme's at the time. Key terms being "future goal"
