Hello everyone, just wanted to say hi. I've been outta the hobby for about 15 years, and getting back into it. I'm starting a revell B-24 as my first kit, mainly cause its what my grand father flew on and worked on too. I wanna learn how to paint really bad, but dunno where to start. Any ways I'll keep reading on the forums and gathering info. Glad to be here!

Welcome Cattech!  I can't help you much with painting because I am just coming back to the hobby myself.  But check out the painting forum and I know you will find a lot of good info!

Welcome aboard, would be nice to see some pics of that 24. As Mike says, if you have any questions, you can ask in the specific part of the forum. And give as much info as you can, such as what paints your using, airbrush or hand brush etc.

Where about did your grandfather serve.

Welcome to the forum;Welcome Sign

one thing the others didn't mention is: practice  or said another way- the more you paint the better you'll get.   Even Michelangelo started out that way.

Thanks guys for the welcome. I will get started on reading info on painting, I did make a post in the general modeling forum to see if I could get a little information. Bish, my grandfather was on a lib called makin' believe. I did find out that he was stationed in attlebridge, England. He passed away in 1989, and I was little and didn't really get to talk to him about everything. But after 24 years of wondering what his plane was called, I did find out three days ago what it was. So this build is a little special for me, cause I wanna make his plane that he flew on. From what my dad told me, he was a mechanic and a belly gunner on the lib. I keep finding stuff all the time on his bomb squadron, and it's awesome.

Really, I was wondering if he was based in the UK. I am from Norwich which is not far from Attelbridge. I have a personal project to build aircraft from all of the military airfields in Norfolk and my first one completed was a B-24 from Attelbridge, I built Queen of Hearts.

Have you checked out any websites, I have come across some really useful ones in my research. Unfortunately the 466th site seems to have gone off line.

I hope to see some pics of your build.

Messed up there, thanks again guys for the welcome. Well I backed up, and wanted to do some practice before I got really deep into this project. So I went out and bought three model kits to practice on first. The first model is....<a href="s1210.photobucket.com/.../Cattech target="_blank"><img src="i1210.photobucket.com/.../null_zpsb789d4df.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> is started it this evening and got pretty far with it. Not a bad little kit. Have to goto the LHS tomorrow and get some aluminum and silver spray cans, but then I will start on my second.<a href="s1210.photobucket.com/.../Cattech target="_blank"><img src="i1210.photobucket.com/.../null_zpse6e2e2a9.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> Bish, I've checked out a bunch of different sites, all have good info on them. Not really got to on the 466th. That's awesome you built one, would love to see some pics of her. Thanks, Dustin.

Thos elinks to the pics are not working, it might be how they are mixed in the post. To post pics directly, use the Use rich formatting line then you will see the icon for insert image and put the PB link on there.

This is my 466th build. Its a Hasegawa 1/72nd B-24J backdated to an H with Xtracolour decals. It was built about 3 or 4 years ago.

I have since added another B-24 and a B-17 to the project completed pile. 3 down 34 to go.

Welcome to the forums Cattech! Man, that is some great history with your Grandfather. You are off to a fantastic start for honing your skills by joining the group here. Might I suggest, before tackling something that is special to you, that you get a couple one or two easier models to build in order to build your skills up. Once you're comfortable with your techniques you can then apply them to a meaningful model.
