welcome to the forum
With apologies for the misquote:
Airplanes? We don't need no stinkin' Airplanes!
Oh yes we do! We LOVE airplanes. And Ships, Armor, Space, Figures, Cars and lots of other stuff too!
We're happy to have you!
If you are on the front range, swing over to Colpar Hobbies in Denver. Haven't been there since the early 80's , but a great shop back then, for sure!
Just another HobbyTown store now.
Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...
thanks for the warm welcome folks!
Been out of this hobby for a while and stepping back into the fold.
currently just playing around with a BF-109E-4 1/72 to get my plastic legs back under me.
have not done any models in a couple of years and learning about some new and cool stuff!

where in Colorado, we might be neighbors
Waynec, thanks for clarifying the affiliation of Colpar. I'm glad to hear they are still the same great store. I haven't been there since they affiliated with Hobby Town.
The east store is the larger of the two but the west store is closer to where i live. There is a nice restaurant next to the east store and my rob wolf ipms guys meet for breakfast every saturday before going to buy stuff we dont need. We have our stamtish in the back with briana and normally have 12 folks every saturday.
sorry for the delay coming back, ( way to nice outside to be playing on the computer!)
Currently residing in south lakewood.
colpar is ok, went to the east store for the first time in a couple of years but they where not very friendly.
was asking about photoetched parts and the guy i was talking with got kind of nasty about nobody buying that crap!( that is what i was there looking for but...)
any other good resources for pe parts out there that you folks would suggest?
I know that Colpar well. I play hockey down the road from them at RMR and will stop in from time to time since I'm in the neighborhood. Not my favorite. Ever since Bob's Hobbies went down 4-5 years ago I've yet to find a local replacement to them. Colpar/Hobbytown USA I feel are more focused on RC and trains than kits and their "Knowledgable" employees reflect this.
Though they do carry enough paints and tools to keep me happy, I keep my kit and AM buying to the Internet with Sprue and Squadron, primarily. I will go over the pond to Hannants and Lucky if I have to due to availability. Not to mention e-Bay. Bottom line, now-a-days the Internet is the best source for kits, parts, and information.
<Adendum> I'm referring to the Lakewood Colpar off of 285 here. The one in Aurora is still pretty well stocked with kits, I assume. I haven't been there in years. Most insulting is the strip mall where Bob's used to be in Southglenn replaced Bob's with a Hobbytown USA. Definitely adding insult to injury there.
Like they say kick the tires light the fires! Welcome to the group! :)
Welcome! *waves*

Sounds like that Local Hobby Shop will not be in business very long! You can check Spruebrothers.com , Squadron.com, InternetModeler..com and several other on-line hobby shops. Even Amazon sometimes has PE. If not, there is always Ebay.
Not worth it for me to drive 40+ miles and back to Colpar. I'll order on line from the standard sources.
Welcome, fellow aircraft modeller!
