Hi, Joe, glad you are joining us!  I'm an older guy too (73) and fortunately my eyes and hands still work well enough to turn out a decent model, but no contest winners.  Modeling has given me something to do in my retirement years and kept my mind sharp.  Great  hobby!

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Welcome Joe. Glad you finally took the plunge. This is a fun place to lurk (I did it quite a while myself), and believe you will find it is much more fun to participate.

I love to build 1/32 scale aircraft, but am giving that up.  I am trying very hard to resist buying any more.  The reason is that the completed ones are taking over my home!  At age 75, and starting at age 7 and never having stopped building, I have a pretty big collection of completed models (though none left from my youth, college years and into adulthood.).  But enough that I am out of display space and trying to find good homes for existing models.  I have stopped buying 1:32 scale aircraft and 1:350 ships,  going to 1:72 aircraft and 1:400 ships!  And for large aircraft- airliners and bombers- I am finding some nice 1:144 kits these days.

Welcome, Joe.  Folks are always more than happy to help and would be sure to appreciate your input. Someone always has a technique or suggestion they are more than happy to share. I attribute this site as one of the main knowledge bases for increasing skill over the past several years.

Welcome aboard Joe!

I've been building whatever strikes my fancy for 67 of my 73 years. I lean towards planes, but ships take a close second. I need help sometimes too because the old grey matter has been mixed up a bit from all the glue and paint fumes that I have inhaled over the years (those were the days). The people on here are great.

Don't forget to post pics of your builds.

Hello from Texas, Longtime follower of this site and forums. Wish I would have joined years ago. Happy to be a part now. I have been building model aircraft on and off since the late sixties and my niche is 1/32 scale WW2. I am not near the talent most of you folks are, but I still enjoy it just the same. I have gotten many great tips from this forum and by joining I hope to get even more. And if there is anything I can pass on, it would be my pleasure. My kids are grown, grandkids and starting to do their own things so I find myself more and more into modeling as time goes by. It is running out so I'm gonna try and make the most of it as the good Lord allows. Thanks for all the insight and interesting conversations. I hope I can contribute even if it's only just a little.
