Hello folks, I have been out of modelling for many years but now as I near retirement and recover from job related injuries, I have rediscovered my passion for model ship building, most notably deciding to finish my oob 1/96 Revell Cutty Sark I started over 18 years ago and got as far as standing rigging before life got in the way. I recently finished her, a ship that was badly damaged over the years and was coated with dust, no "billowing" sails but rather the typical shrouded up linen handkerchief sails. For the amount of damage to her it came out alright.
My previous builds include a 1/96 Revell Thermopylae (completed 1975) and my masterpiece, (IMHO) was likewise a 1/96 scale 1976 Revell USS United States with canvas sails which was unfortunately destroyed in a moving accident.
I have been following Force9's build with great pleasure and awe at his building skills and research and will be utilizing many of his ideas if he doesn't mind as his research and attention to detail are truly inspiring, as is Mr Tilley and bondomans insight. I hope to receive good advice as I begin my build of a 1976 release of the Revell 1/96 Constitution. I t will be nowhere near what Force9 is doing but I intend to set out to demonstrate like him that plastic modellers can do quality work with a little extra effort.
Again, thanks in advance for allowing me to come aboard
Dan
