Hi Jon and Logan! I live not too far away from you, in Portola Valley.

While there is not a junior forum, I'd suggest that Logan pick a model he likes and start a new post of his own. He can introduce himself along the lines of "Hi my name is Logan and I just bought a model of the Monogram M 48 Patton kit."

Post that in "Armor" and you'll get all kinds of attention.

In particular because of your sons age, I'd keep any further discussion of personal stuff pretty general. Have him pick a screen name like "Kap fan" or whatever tickles him.A big no go is to ever let your email out online. But other than that you'll find this group to be encouraging and positive.

Our editor Tim Kidwell has a son "Dark Force" who's probably about 7 or 8.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Welcome to the Forums Jon and Logan!  Glad to have you with us.

There is no separate "juniors" Forum here.  A lot of the members are "older" and "younger" than you think they are.  Everyone is welcome here regardless of age or ability.  They will give you constructive criticism to help you improve your work and get to the next level.  I'm one of the "old farts" on here at 74. I've been building since I was 6 years old.  I consider my builds as "stand off scale".  If you stand back about 5 to 10 feet, they look OK.  I've been to many shows and had a great time without winning anything.  I've been to some shows and picked up an award here and there.  You can never tell just what the judges are looking for.  At all the shows, there are "Junior" awards too.  Jump in and have fun.  Make sure you post pics of your builds.  If you need any help, Just ask.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

Hi all,

I've been a subscriber since about 2006 but have built very few models over the years. I just love mag.

But my son Logan, 10, just got into it a couple months ago. He spends lots of time reading the magazine and looking through the website. He's completely infatuated with modeling tanks and military trucks, motorcycles,

We have gone to 2 local club meetings and went to the Santa Rosa hobby fair and had a great time.

Is there a "juniors" forum where he can post photos of his models? He wants to compete in shows, and I want to get him some constructive feedback from other modelers. But I think he might be discouraged if we posted in the regular adult forum.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Jon (and Logan)
