Aircraft rivet details

Hi, I have a question about scribing aircraft rivet details. I've got a number of tools adnd guides for scribing both panel lines and rivet details. (probably more than is good for me! "She Who Must Be Obeyed" constantly asks: 'What do you need that for?') My question is: 'Is there a standard center-to-center distance for rivets on aircraft?? i.e 6", 8", 10", 12"?'

You're better off asking in the aircraft section of the forums, not here. This forum is for introducing yourself.

More like 1-1/2 to 2 inches. However, most are flush rivets, and by the time you add a topcoat of polyurethane, they're invisible from anything more than, say, 6' away.

There are many factors which determine what size rivet is to be used, the edge space to be used and the distance between rivets. If you really want to learn what goes into riveting, go on the web and look up AC43.13-1b.  When you get there go to chapter 4, page 4-15, Para 2.  From there to the end of the chapter is every thing you need to go riveting.  And I disagree with Arved's statement about flush rivets.  I've been an A&P/AI for 40+ years and can say I've driven a heck of lot more round headed rivets than flush rivets. (the above referenced AC and the -2b are often referred to as the "A/C mechanics Bible" - If the a/c manufacturer does not tell me how to fix something, I go to this AC for referenc)
