Pilot figure BF109, 1/72 scale
Posted by Mr. Underhill on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 9:20 PM

Hi everyone. Brand new to the forum.

Anyone have a suggestion on where to find a 1/72 scale seated pilot figure for a Messerschmitt BF109G14 (Academy kit)?

Thanks very much

Yeah, in the Aircraft forum Big Smile

Just busting your chops!  Welcome to the forum!

CMK makes resin figures, including seated pilots.  Here is the URL to the first page of their figure catalog:

http://www.cmkkits.com/en/figures/index.php?fSort=3&fSeries=0&fScale=15&fNationality=24&fEra=6&fMaker=0

I filtered for 1/72 German WWII by any maker.

You might also try the secondary market.  One of the eBay sellers I follow sells the figures from old kits, though his prices are a little high.  But nevertheless, I'd search eBay.

And of course, there may be members here who have one and would just give it to you, too, Mister....Baggins Wink

(I just happen to be re-reading TLOTR right now, the Company has just reached Lorien).

Again, welcome to the forum, and best regards!

If you don't mind buying a box of figures, the Revell and Preiser sets are ideal. They come with a range of seated figures often with separate arms so you can pose it as you wish. The CMK sets are nice but there are no seated figures.

Bish

I was just about to disagree with you, Bish, when I took a closer look.  Though, I agree, they don't have any figures specifically of a pilot sitting in the cockpit.  However, they do have a couple of figures in flight gear, sitting outside, as on the ground, which could be adapted.  Here's the "German Bomber Pilots" set, with 2 seated figures:

There are a couple other sets in their catalog, with seated pilots, but they're posed to sit in chairs.  Though, they, too, could be modified.

I agree about the Preiser sets, particularly.

Best regards,

Brad

Ye, that's what I meant, seated in an aircraft. I have every German pilot/groundcrew set on the market in 72nd scale, as a dio builder they are rather essential. Though I have not seen it confirmed, I suspect the Revell set is a re box of the Preiser as they look identical, though the Revell look nicer. Those CMK figures, as you mention, are bomber crew, and would take a little converting

When you mention figures in chairs, do you mean from Preiser. They are rather nice, i used one of those a while back. I have not seen any CMK figures in chairs though.

This one, Bish, "WWII German Pilots are rest"

The pilots are sculpted sitting in armchairs, waiting to scramble.  As to the bomber pilots, I was thinking that it wouldn't be that difficult to modify them, would it?

O, now that's one I have not seen before, not sure how I missed that. Thanks Baron. Preiser have a nice figure sitting in a deck chair so wasn't sure if you meant that one.
