looking for a veteran's rehabilitation facility to donate models, books
Posted by bookfish on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 10:24 AM

Hello everyone,

I have heard that there is wisdom in group knowledge so I am asking for your assistance. My only knowledge of Fine Scale Modeler is through my late, comon-law brother-in-law. He was a Marine, an artist, a PADI dive master, professional sign painter and all around wonderful guy.  He left us in November (just hours after attending my daughter's wedding). During his later years, I was his "librarian", giving and recommending books, articles, etc. that I thought he would enjoy.  His interest among many others was military history. In addition to a ton of great memories, he left us with hundreds, possible a thousand, models--some never touched, some partially completed and some completed.  He collected these models over a period of at least 30 years that I know of.  He also left an extensive library of military history, ships, sailing and many other books.  My sister, his widow, would like to donate these things to a veteran's facility where veterans are in long term treatment or therapy and would enjoy making the models and reading the books. I would like your help in identifying these facilities so that she can pick one.  Thank you.
