Greetings from Southern California!

Where it is 82 degrees.  In February.

1959 was probably the last time I finished a plastic model.  Over the years I've kept my hands busy with wooden ship modeling.  Two weeks ago I was preparing myself to begin Model Shipways "Mayflower" and decided to take a break from the rigors of planking and check out the world of plastic modeling.

Wow.  What a shock!  I was completely unprepared for the level of sophistication I've been seeing.  It's going to be interesting to see how much of my workbench will transfer to plastic.  I'm looking for plastic 17/18 century sailing ships, any era workboat, tugboat etc, and WW1 aircraft.  I haven't really seen much that interests me regarding ships and boats yet, but the aircraft at Wingnut Wings really impressed me.  If anyone knows of some well fitting/engineered kits I'd love to hear your recommendations.

My time is spent mostly on photography followed by ship modeling/woodworking and X-Plane.  Retirement is a wonderful thing!

The forum here looks terrific.  I'll probably troll for awhile until I get a handle on the appropriate forums for my many questions and until I decide my first project.

Welcome neighbor! Welcome Sign

82 degrees? You must be right by the water Paradise If you like X-planes, I might suggest the Revell 1/32 X-1, where it all began.

Hi Dave! I'm new here myself. I grew up in Redondo Beach, but have lived in Utah since 1971.

If you have an interest in WW1 there are some very fine large 1/32 scale planes available these days. I stick with 1/72, and if you're willing to learn to work with resin there are kits available for far more subjects than you would imagine. I'm awaiting the arrival of a Farman MF.11 from a company in Poland, so you can find pretty much anything you want in that scale.
