i haven't built a model in about 30 years and I'm inertested in learning how to build and paint. I'm interested in just about anything military. bought my first model yesterday and its a F/A 18-E super hornet. My first question is what kind of beginner airbrush kit that is not expensive and ok to learn on? Thanks for the help and looking forward to chatting with you all

Welcome to the Forums!

I have a Paasche H with one of their compressors.  it's been good for most applications.

Plus:  another Badger (as in the state animal; there is an airbrush brand called that)--although, technically I was/am a Warhawk.

Hello and welcome Nitro,

I am new to modeling and I purchased the Masters Pro Series Airbrush and Compressor. I have had great luck with it and works great. Very easy to use for a new individual to airbrushing.

Welcome, Nitro -

Good to have you here, you'll find a wealth of info and help available. Plenty of good starter airbrushes to be found, as Hunter said his set works well for him. I have Iwata, Paasche and Badger AB's for my use, all have their individual preferred purpose and work very well.

I recommend starting with something inexpensive, as when your skills develop and advance, you'll know better which type will work best for your use.

I find my most used are the Badger 100G and 200G, inexpensive, tough and reliable, easy to use and maintain. I'm also impressed positively with my Iwata M1 and Paasche VJR, same reasons, they are the ones for the finest detail work.

Good luck with the selection, once proficient with an airbrush you'll find it an essential modeling tool. It will take some time, it sure did for me, the most useful things are patience and practice, practice, then more practice.

Hi Nitro, I'm in Fox Lake Il. which isnt far from Wisconsin. We spend quite a bit of time up in Milwaukee and Kenosha during the summer. I'm not sure what you mean by cheap, we all have our limits, so maybe posting a price range would help others suggest an airbrush for you. Good luck with your kit, it should be a blast to build.
