It's a great place, but damn those bugs!

GM -

I know "the city" doesn't have that many bugs...but their just bugs LOL Big Smile. I understand hating the bug thing...when I was there in your fair city I noticed that I didn't see any bugs.

My Mom's people are out of the Detroit, St. Claire area. My Grandfather had a house right on the St. Claire river. Watched the big carriers go by as a little kid.

My Dad's are out of the Lansing, Albion area. My Great gGndfather was a Governor, but they spent most of their time in Detroit.

Both my folks went to school in Ann Arbor.

It's a great place, but damn those bugs!

Welcome!

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Welcome fellow Michigander, I'm in Livingston county...... I built mostly cars and trucks in the past, but recently I've been building WWII aircraft, and just built my first tank, and I'm currently working on a Dragon 251 half track, and am starting on a Bronco 155mm howitzer for a diorama (my first) for a family member who's dad served in Korea. Welcome! Rudy

I'm just a bit further up in Lapeer county. You know, where the suburbs turn into farmland! I still head down to that area quite a bit, since it's the closest trip to pick up model kits. I usually go to Great Lakes Hobby and Train south of Hall Road on old VanDyke.

I'm curious, what part of the thumb?

I used to live in Sterling Heights, a couple miles south of Lakeside Mall.

Welcome to the Forums Bishop!  Glad to have you aboard!

That's the way most members got here.  Me, I started when I was 6 and have been building for 69 of my 75 years.  I build whatever strikes my fancy at the time (and is OK with my wallet Wink).  Favorites are WWII planes and vehicles. Haven't built any armor yet.  Maybe some day (have a couple in the stash).  Build wooden ships too as you can see by my avatar.

Also welcome to Plasticaholics Anonymous.  One you get the disease, there is no cure.  You always come back.  Enjoy and be sure to post pics of your builds.

Hi everyone! I've been reading FSM for years now, but just today realized I've never actually signed up for the forums. So here I am to rectify that oversight.

I've been building models for...well a good long time, since I was a kid and used the good old orange and white label Testors in a tube to put together Revell-Monogram ship models. Since that time, I got out of the hobby for a bit and then got back into it in a big way when I saw how many new and amazing kits there now were.

Favorite subjects are WWII German and American armor, but I'm looking to get into building anything and everything to improve my skills.

Hoping to be a worthwhile contributor to the forums!
