Welcome David. It is very wonderful to have you join us all here.

I'll also suggest that you may want to get your feet wet with a couple of more basic kits. At least until your comfortable with the fundamentals of modeling. Stick around here and your skills will develop quickly and marvelously. No better place to find help and learn.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. Just had a nice surprise yesterday, looking around a local charity shop, found a Red Arrows Hawk 1:72 airfix for a £2. Excellent! Bought the B-17 Memphis Belle 1:72 Revell from my local Hobbycraft. It's still a work in progress, bought it's something to take my time over, and enjoy over a long time. Best thing about this hobby, I suppose, you can't rush anything. So I have taken it out of the box, stuck a couple of things together. Put it back in the box... took it out again... put it back... No rush.. Ha ha. I haven't even started with the painting yet... from looking at all your expert posts on this forum, it's an art form in itself. Looks like fun though.

Welcome to the Forums David!  Glad to have you aboard!

That's some wish list.  My 2 cents (for what it's worth) is to start out slow and work your way up as your skills increase (and they will very quickly if you stick around here). Not really a good idea to buy very expensive kits only to get disappointed at the results. Been there and done that until coming here and learning a LOT. Make sure to post pics so the members can see how you're doing and how to help you with any questions/problems that you might have.

I've been building for 69 of my 75 years and enjoyed every minute of it (well almost every minute, there was that time back in..........................).  I think you get the idea.Wink

Hang in there and enjoy.

Welcome David! You have a great looking wish list there. Love the excitement you show for the hobby. As for the 5 Level kit. You can always give it a shot and put it on the back burner if it gets to be too much. But there are lots of folks here that are more then willing to help out if you have questions. My skill level shot up exponentially when I started here on the forums. Superior builders here all will crazy cool skill sets! Welcome aboard! Eagle90

Hello everyone...

I'm David from Lincolnshire.  Fascinated with airplanes, especially World War II bombers and jet fighters Just got into the hobby, only done two models so far, but I already have a wishlist ten miles long.  I have done an Airfix 1/72 Eurofighter Typhoon (unpainted) and a tiny Fairchild A10 Thunderbolt (which has gone in the bin, because it's just too tiny, it is pathetic)

I haven't painted the Typhoon yet, because I am saving my energy for something more adventurous.  My favourite plane has always been the B-29 Superfortress, and I have seen a decent 1/72 Academy Enola Gay kit for only £22.50 online, which looks like a bargain.

But the more I see it, the more I am tempted by the Airfix 'Memphis Belle' B-17 Bomber, which looks a hell of a lot more interesting and rewarding, if, much harder (skill level 5  gulp!!).  Is it worth going head first into a level 5 kit?  Or am I biting off more than I can chew?

Anyway.. here's my wishlist of plane kits I hope to purchase in the near future:

A10 Thunderbolt
Supermarine Spitfire MkiV
Messerschmitt bf109
Messerschmitt ME262
B-17 Flying Fortress
B-29 Superfortress
Avro Vulcan
Avro Lancaster
Gloster Meteor
Mustang P51D
MiG 29 Fulcrum
Loads of others

Cheers Guys....
