Cheers Lolok.
Yeah Modelzone has really started to get its act together now - which is good news.
The shop you mentioned is Comet Miniatures, which is in Battersea - know it well.
Haven't been to Forbidden Planet for ages, really have trouble finding what I want in there anyway (mainly books).
Yeah the forums are pretty cool and have been very useful so far.

Hi Richard.
The forums are a real lifeline for expat londoners now working and living in cool swinging Warsaw Poland. Just back from a weeks break in good old London. Hit Hannants and Modelzone which has so much improved from it's old Beatties days. Have you seen the new enlarged Forbidden Planet shop? lots more room and lots more SciFi. Bought the Trinity figure from Matrix to go with my Tamiya Ducati. What is the name of that Model shop in Sth London who sells all the SciFi kits? Cannot remember at all.had no time to visit. They have a new shop next door with lots of old rare kits.
Again welcome and ANYTHING you want to know you will find it here somewhere.

Cheers Monrad.
Yeah certainly have a few projects on the go at present - a few of which I won't be finishing for a while - a 1:32 Tornado (don't know wher I am going to put that when I'm finished - might be the ceiling, though a bit worried that it might bring the plasterboard down!Smile [:)]
Also got a vinyl kit of Pinhead (from the film Hellraiser) - had it about 5-6 years and have done very little work on it - the major job with it is going to be putting all the individual pins into the head, still a little uncertain wether I should paint it in acrylic or oils!!! Plus my girlfriend has said she doesn't like it and it won't be anywhere in the flat so it'll have to sit on mt desk at work once completed!
If I get a chance today I'll get some pictures done.

Thank you very much for the very warm welcome.
Yeah I've been reading through some of the forums and it is unbelievable the time, effort, imagination and innovation that people put into the kits that they are working on - it is actually a bit of a kick up the backside for me because I normally get the kit from the shop and follow the detail from the box and hey presto the kit is finished but has always lacked that something special to set it aside - I knew nothing about conversion kits, purchasing alternative decals or building dioramas - also the research that goes into a lot of it is mind-blowing - Bow [bow]
After doing a bit of reading up decided not to put the Ark Royal with the Sheffield but instead try and get a few kits (1:700) of ships that where in the Falklands War in 1982 (I know that there was a kit for HMS Invincible, not sure about HMS Hermes) and build something along those lines.
Is acrylic gel the best option for getting a realistic water setting? Any hints of tips would be much appreciated..........and thanks again for the welcomeBig Smile [:D]

Hi all,
great site. 32, have been modelling for a few years now and have only started improving a great deal and getting tips since picking up a copy of FSM and then checking the website out and especially the forums.
Currently working on a MH-60L Black Hawk (by Revell) 1:48.
Hope to start my first diorama soon either a WWII set with a German anti-tank gun and machine gunners, or, a sea-based one with HMS Sheffield (and possibly the Ark Royal depending on the size of the frame I've got!).
Other interests include mountain-biking, and, triathlon!!
