Hello everyone. My first time here, and I hope it will not be the last. My story? Probably like a lot of folks. I spent hours in my basement as a boy assembling plastic models.
What a joy to watch bits of colored polymers slowly (and sometimes painfully) become, miracle of miracles, a sleek, red Fokker Dr1. I made rotary motor sounds as I pitched and rolled it in my hands, seeing in my minds eye Manfred VonRichtofen, silk scarf streaming behind as he put a silver Nieuport 17 in his sights, his machine gun chattering in the chill dawn sky over Flanders.
Yeah. I'm a bit verbose and somewhat dramatic. But I love this hobby so when I put down my glue and Testors paint bottle some 56 years ago, I put down a part of myself.
And now. After retiring. I am at last able to have the time to devote to this wonderful artistic movement, and believe me, a modeler is an artist.
I will have many questions. And my first. I remember that Lindbergh was the company that, at the time was the best WW1 airplane designer. Does Lindbergh still exist? I have put together in the last couple months a Revell (F4U-A), Hesagawa (Focke Wulf F!190) and I just got an AirFix (B-25) J. Do you have a favorite company?
