Tanker - Builder

Lost Pony ?

You gotta be referring to a Mustang ? Am I right ? Welcome , and I'll check in to cars once in a while to see how your doing .  Tanker - Builder

LOL. Yes, I love Mustangs. I don't have one at the moment, but I have owned many over the years. My last one was a 2012 Boss 302. I will likely by getting a 1:1 65 or 66 Fastback as my next toy sometime next year.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

My name Lonnie, Iam new to the forum myself.

Another modeller had a question about problems painting yellow

over another color. I use neutral gray as a base coat. It has worked

well for me. I have a F-86A in aluminum that needs yellow for the

wingtips and middle of vertical tailfin.

Hope this helps the fellow modeller with the yellow paint issue.

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!

If you need any help just ask. The members here are ready to help you with any questions/problems. We have quite a few ex-racers here that build other types of models too. I drag raced for a few years in the late '50s and early '60s at local tracks until I discovered that it was very costly and difficult to race the car you needed for the daily trip to and from work. WinkI have built whatever strikes my fancy for 70 of my 76 years and hope to continue doing it.

P.S. What track do you work at if I'm not being too nosey?

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

Hey guys. I am just getting back in to the hobby of building model cars. I built many a car in my youth, dropped the hobby, and decided to get back in after picking up a car a little while back.

I work at a racetrack on the east coast and noticed pictures of the old Miller Racing Ford Mustang on the walls. I had built a model of the car back in the day and was curious why the car was featured so prominently on the walls here. Doing a bit of research revealed that the car was campaigned by the owner of the track who had passed away a few years prior to my assuming my role as director.

I ordered the model again from ebay and to my surprise the model has decals with our track logo, and owner's race team on it! Holy cow! This place had been a part of my life long before I found it in real life! So my goal is to build the model to honor our former owner. I may decide to do a few other cars first as I really want to do the car right. I am lucky enough to know where the real car is today to use as reference, even though the car now has different livery on it.

Anyway, long winded way to say "Hi", and that I am impressed with the many cars I see on the site.

Cheers!
