Hi Diddy, and welcome to the forums. I know the instructions are sometimes confusing or inaccurate in places, but dry fitting and testing along the way can usually get you to a good completion.
About "hitting the wall," I have huge bruises all over from running into it for decades. I'm three weeks from 76, been building since about 8, I finally realized long ago I'm as proficient as I will be. I can make corrections to bad parts and poor fit, but scratch building has eluded me and I wanted to do that.
My finish work is OK as long as you're not closer than one foot, but nothing like some of the truly talented guys like Lawdog, Brandon, Nathan and several others. But their work in progress posts are very helpful, and have given me information that has indeed resulted in improvements for me.
So, just build for the absolute fun of it, as long as you enjoy what you turn out, that's as good as your models need to be. Hope to see some posts from you.
