I used to build models when i was young till up the early 80,s when real life realities take your time, late 90,s early 2000's till now with more accesible internet i got into papercraft models, and just lately i decided to go back into making plastic model kits, ive made alot of ww2 aircraft and tanks different scales both allied and axis, ships not as interested in, unless its wooden ships, vehicles and aicraft through the 50,s, 60,s to modern. My skills are need alot of work being away from making kits for so long and eyesight not as good as it once was, but hoping i can read up on some of the good work you guys do to keep me inspired.

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of useful information here, and many really outstanding examples of model building. You will notice that the hobby has made some great strides in terms of kits and aftermarket parts, and there are plenty of new products to enhance your builds, like washes and pigments. Have fun with your builds!

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Welcome to the forums!

We're probably of similar vintage, you and I, but if you stopped building models around 1999 or 2000, I don't think you'll find too much has changed.  I noticed more changes in my case--I went off to college in 1982 and stopped building models at that point, and didn't get back in until about 1990 or so.  The explosion in the use of aftermarket parts, and the general disappearance of figures from aircraft and armor kits, was the biggest surprise to me.

As for your eyes, I recommend getting a magnifier of some kind, such as an OptiVisor, and having good lighting in your work area.

I look forward to seeing your builds!

Best regards,

Brad
