Welcome to the forums! Beer Welcome Sign

My Father in law retired from TACOM about ten years ago. I remember going to several of the open houses, which were a lot of fun.

When you get a chance, post some pictures of your builds! Would love to them!

EDIT: Ha, I just saw you did post some pics! lol!

Those builds are looking great!  Nice work...both of you!

Let's try  this.  These are several of our in progress works.  A Jag that my son laid out the camo pattern on, a 76mm Sherman, a T-34/76 '43 and a couple of incomplete Crusader II's.

Thanks, everybody.  Whether it's my new status or maybe my linking to my Google pics I'm struggling with the picture.  I'll keep trying.

Though I build more than tanks!  Hi, I just joined.  I am getting back into plastic model building after having been out for a while.  With better liquid glues, acrylic model paints, and the internet, I'm finding it a lot easier to build and finish models.  Gotta admit I hated using enamels with the paint thinners stinking up everything.

Anyway, I've always been fond of tanks and for the last 24 years have been involved with the design, protection and / or the builiding of tanks and Army vehicles (I work in Warren, MI if that's any help figuring out what I do!).

Last year I wanted to get back in and decided that 1/72 was a good scale for me to build in, to save room.  My 5 year old son wanted to know what I was doing and naturally wanted to do it too.  So I started buying Armourfast models, with two models per box, one for him and one for me.  We've gradually been letting him do more and more  of the building and painting.

Below is a selection of our models in various states of build.

Just wanted to say that using Armorfast kits was a great way to introduce your son to modelling. I can only imagine how excited he must feel about sharing the building experience together. And by the way good choice with 1/72 scale, it happens to be my preffered scale.Yes

Thanks, all. I'll try to get the pic fixed later today. We just finished the glue up of a couple of Crusader IIs yesterday. Hope to prime them this week or weekend. We have a rolling line of models. One set are complete, one set are ready for decals, one set are topcoated, ready for camo and one set ready for primer. John

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!

I build whatever strikes my fancy and my wallet says OK Wink. I've been building for 70 of my 76 years and am just finishing up my first tank. It's an IT-28 Soviet Bridgelayer. It's all  finished except for the treads. Just finished dry brushing them with silver. This afternoon, I'll install them and start dirtying it up a little.

Glad your son is interested. I had 2 daughters who were only interested when they were 5 or 6 and I built them a large doll house. My grandsons are interested in the research end of the hobby and not the actual building. They like to watch grandpop build and want to know the history behind the build. Enjoy!

Howdy to you too!

My interest in military vehicles is only tanks. At the moment I only have three.  Over the years and many moves later most were destroyed.  Oh well, such is life.

I wasn't able to see any of the pictures you posted, it could be on my side though. Hope to see them soon.
