Hello, and welcome.  I am fairly new to kit building, and also suffer from "perfectionistic paralysis" in which I get so concerned about doing the kit to perfection that I end up doing nothing.  You will see examples of kit building on this forum that are absolutely phenomenal, but please bear in mind that these are very experienced builders who have put a lot of time into learning their skills.  Ask questions, watch videos on youtube, follow works in progress, but most of all, dig in.  You will learn best by making your own mistakes.  One of the great benefits of kit building is that it allows you to focus on the kit, and clear your mind of life issues for a while.  There is a wealth of information on this forum, and the members are friendly and helpful.  Enjoy!

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Welcome to the forums!  And as some have expressed, others of us here has things of our own that we deal with.  I lost my wife of over 25 years in 2015, so I know what you mean about depression.  But like Toshi said, this hobby is a life saver.  Me doing models is my happy place.  LOL!  So jump on in, have fun and don't worry about asking questions...I've technically been building for over 30 years and I still ask questions!  LOL!  Glad to have you on the forums!

I'm disabled and suffer from those issues and much much more as well on a daily basis.  I build WWII Aircraft.  And some jets.  This hobby has saved my life!  I'm not saying this will happen to you too but give it a go and work hard at it.  I've only been doing this for two years and it has taken the sun and opened the clouds.

Hello all.

Hi there,

Ive been trying to get into modeling (man that sounds terrible) for some time now but i suffer from severe depression and anxiety which at times really messes up my plans.

I started building kits and putting some basic paint on them for wargaming with friends but ive been wanting to spend more time on individual kits.

As usual ive bought a lot of stuff and not managed to get much done with it as im worried it will be wrong. I will most likely ask a lot of questions and maybe the same stuff again and again.

I have an interest in a lot of things and tend to build what I think looks good.  At the moment im planning on building some helo's for our Vietnam war games, but as i said im wanting to up the detail on them in both painting and quality for me.

Anyway im 40 and from Yorkshire, UK.  And i look forward to being a part of the community.

Cheers

Brian.
