Nice Kyle, making me want to go flying.

TB, I just moved into my house and the swannanoa river is my property line and its designated trout waters, its about 100yds off my back deck. The Arleigh Burke DDG? I spent some time on a DDG at the beginning of my Navy career.

Crown, I am grilling today brother.

Tks for making me feel welcome Y'all.

Tks guys ! :)  I have noticed alot of other forum members also into the RC addiction. Always a hard choice for me as to which addiction I am going to feed the days I am not working 12hr shifts. My addiction list RC, Fishing, competition Air rifles, archery and teaching fly fishing to my fellow DAV's here in the Asheville NC area. Least model building is something I can do after sunset.  Dale

I'm seriously considering retiring to the Asheville area next year, were working with a realtor from Arden, but the whole area is in play.what's the Model Shop situation down there ?

A hobbytown, great family owns it and several other hobbytown stores. I worked for them when they were first opening the store here. No other hobbyshops in local area I know of. Great area if your into trout fishing, short winters and lots of bears.  Asheville is also very Liberal !

Tks Toshi awesome B-17 build you did brother.

Kyle,  almost yr round flying season is one of many reasons I like it here in NC. I use to build serious scale planes and if your familiar with Byron, I have flown at there now sadly gone bi-annual warbird exibition. I have built, helped build or flown just about all the awesome Ziroli warbirds. About 7 yrs ago I got out of scale, down sized sold all the fuel burners except one and went electric. In the past few yrs I have been playing around with the now really nice foam electric Warbirds. Way easier to fix when you crash and you will crash, unless your not flying :) Also found the newer foam birds to be way easier to weather than the fiberglass or wood models. Drop me a line anytime if you want to just yak about rc stuff.  Dale

Hey Livit,

What are you into for Rc Warbirds? That'd be my other addiction as well. I frequent rcscalebuilder.com.

I've built a few Ziroli planes and have plans from a bunch of other designers. Not enough time for all the models to build and flying season in New England is much too short.

Welcome to the Forums LIVIT! Glad to have you aboard!

You've come to the right place. A lot of us got here the same way. I came pretty much the same way as you. I've been building for 70 of my 76 years. Used to race R/C sailboats up and down the east coast, flew R/C planes (mostly gliders), did all the other hobbies too. I did stick to plastic models during all the others. Whatever struck my fancy and my wallet said OK, I build it. My favorite is WWI & WWII planes. Since joining the Forums, I've gotten a lot better at building thanks to the members here. They are very knowledgeable and are ready to help out with any questions/problems.

Hi Y'all new to FSM. 50+ yrs of building.
Posted by LIVIT on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 11:24 PM

I have been into multiple different building hobbies since the mid 60's. I build and fly RC warbirds and also build and race RC boats. I am a proud Navy DAV and still serve by working for the VA Hospital. I have worked in the hobby industry part and fulltime, from hobby shops (retail) to R&D for manufacturers. I am no plastic model expert, but probably have forgotten more models I have built than I remember doing :)

Masted military ships are my favorite display models. So far I have only built plastic ships but I do see a high quality wood build in my future. I guess aircraft from the Wright flyer up to the first Jets are second on list. But I have been known to buy and build about any model just because it caught my eye, then end up giving it away as a completed gift.

I am really looking forward to joining in and learning, also hope I can help too.  LIVIT
