Hi Everyone
Posted by laskdjn on Thursday, August 3, 2017 4:39 PM

So, I built models airplanes sporadically as a child, and as of 6 months ago, I started getting back into the hobby more seriously as of 6 months ago.  I've been cruising this forum regularly for all the excellent advice and tips that everyone has.

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!

You've come to the right place. The members here are very knowledgeable and are ready to help out with any questions/problems that you might have. Don't be afraid to ask for help. We've all been there at one time or another. I've been building for 70 of my 76 years and I'm still learning something new almost every day.

Soooooooo, sit back, relax, have a sip or two of your favorite beverage whether it be CoffeeBeerDrinks, or my favorite Toast and build away. Enjoy.

Almost forgot, post pics of your builds.

Thank you for the kind welcome.  I'm working on a 1/48 Tamiya P-51B right now that I just finished painting, I'll put up pictures when I'm done, but I'm sure it'll be nothing close to some of the amazing work I've seen done by many of the members here.

One thing that you have to remember is that we are our own worst critics. We know where we made a mistake and every time we look at the model our eyes go directly to our error so we point it out. Anyone else looking at the model might not see it. I know I've won an award or two knowing that the judges didn't see the glaring error I thought I had made. As a friend of mine would say "Maybe, maybe not". As long as you had fun building the model and think that it looks pretty good, it is. You only have to please yourself. Awards are just more icing on the cake.

I know that mode of thinking all too well.  I've handed over a perfectly decent model to a friend to look it over and then say "Now find the errors."

Welcome aboard !!!

laskdjn
but I'm sure it'll be nothing close to some of the amazing work I've seen done by many of the members here.

Dont sell yourself short.

My very first glue together kit ( AMT 56 Ford Victoria ) was a mess only a 6 year old could appereciate ! It was 2 different colors of blue   ( neither complemented the other ) and I glued binder re-enforcement rings  all over it. Then I hand painted each ring a different color.

It looked like a 56 ford got hit by a truck loaded with Fruit-loops !

I double dog dare you to do worse.

Anyways.... pull up a chair and join in the fun. WE are here to help.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
