Hello from New York
Posted by new-sprue on Monday, January 15, 2018 10:00 AM

Hi everyone,

Like so many, I'm returning to modeling after a long absence. I build as a kid, mostly planes and ships. A number of years ago I say a model kit on eBay for the first new car I ever owned--a 1992 Honda Del Sol from Tamiya. I bought it on a whim, and it has been sitting in my closet ever since. Over the Christmas holiday I decided to have a crack at it.

It's turning out (poorly, for the most part), but I've remember why I liked this so much as a kid. So I already have a couple of Airfix 1/72 kits waiting to start.

Two big differences from when I did this as a kid. I have more disposable income (dangerous), and the internet is full of information about modeling (mostly helpful).

Cheers,

Chris

Welcome!  To add to your comment, the biggest difference between me now and 7 year old me is patience - a critical modeler trait.

Thanks,

John

Howdy !

new-sprue
. I have more disposable income

Yeah ..... this hobby will quickly "fix" that problem . ( You will spend all your money, and be broke ! No problem. )

new-sprue
the internet is full of information about modeling

YEP ! The Internet is most helpful at finding aftermarket part's , Resin part's and kit's , Photo-etch part's, ECT. ECT.

But, the "Net" SURPASSE'S itself as the best way to help with your disposable income......

(It help's you get rid of it quicker .)

Welcome to FSM.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
