Hello,

Just introducing myself,

I been making scale models since i was a kid on and off and have recently became a father and trying to share the experience with my kids.

It sparked up again when I had to help my daughter with a school project to make a pyramid diorama.

Anyways hi!.

First model in 10 years! I'm happy with it!

Welcome Sgt!

I'm a dad of two young girls.  Having some modeling skills really came in handy when they were in grade school doing dioramas and interest fair projects.  My favorite was when my oldest did an interest fair project on the Titanic.  Can you guess what I built for her to display?  Ha-ha-ha!

My youngest one did a report on Arctic wildlife.  She and I built a snow-covered diorama.  I never really build dioramas but I was able to put a lot of what I learned here on FSM into that project.  It was a fun learning experience for all of us.

What kind of subjects do you like to build?  For me, it's primarily U.S. aircraft from the '40s and '50s but I'm slowly expanding into the modern realm.  It's nice not having to paint so many prop tips.  Tongue Tied

Welcome to the forum!

I've raised six kids and have subjeted all of them to model building. Only one was very good when she was around 10-11 yrs old and actually went to a model show and got three awards.

My youngest (now 13) probably got more out of modeling because he was big into Star Wars when the kits from the final movie of the second trilogy came out. We must have built a dozen or so of those very nice kits.

Welcome!  I went through the same thing with my three kids.  The cell model my daughter and i scratch built for her 7th grade science class was so nice the teacher asked to keep it  lol.

They lost their patience and moved on to sports and dance.

Thanks,

John

Welcome to the forums, Sarge!  Your daughter did a nice job with her pyramid.  I look forward to seeing more of her builds, and yours.

If you're interested in science fiction modeling, have you seen Maschinen Krieger kits yet?

Best regards,

Brad

Howdy !

Getting kid's into modeling is defenetly "trickier" than it sound's . These day's ,there's just too much going on in a kid's world. Video game's , TV,  Texting,  ... Ect.  no time to sit and focus on part's that dont look like anything.

"Darn kid's, and their Rock-em Sock-em robot's "

Starting with a diorama is a good start ! This should be just the "Inspireation" she need's to start looking for subject's she is interested in.

Welcome to FSM.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
