First Titanic Build

Hi;

 The deck I saw had a peel off backing .Try to get it to fit before taking that backing off !

I used Cigar tube lining wood for mine .One plank group at a time . I used The same adhesive they use for formica installs .

Wood deck's can be "Tricky", you have to be careful with ANYTHING water based. Too much Elmers Glue , and you will Warp your deck. The same goes for when you get ready to Paint / Wash the deck.

I used a CA type glue on my wood deck, and I used it very sparingly. ( The wood has a tendency to "Suck up the CA. ) Next thing you know .... the deck is glued to your fingers !

There are two kinds of wood decks. Ones with self adhesive and ones without.

If it has self adhesive, do not try to use any added glue. If it does not have self adhesive, do an online search for recommendations.

The number one thing is to get it to fit and lie flat before attaching. For various reasons these things never seem to fit as well as they should. It can't be forced to be flat, and have the adhesive hold.

The most common fit problems are in between the various cut outs, like hatches. If it's too tight and looks buckled, it needs to be trimmed. Time spent solving these issues first is time well spent.

I dabble in ships from time to time, but in 1/700.  Since you've been reading the discussions, maybe you've run across some threads from others who have built the Titanic.  I always find it helpful to read through and look at in-progress photos from other builders.

If you do a search for Titanic, here on the "Search Forums" bar, you will probably find lots of suggestions--if you haven't already done so.

Otherwise, doing a google-search can take you to other sites that may have helpful information and build-advice.
