Hello!
Posted by troublemaker66 on Friday, April 13, 2018 3:56 PM

Hey All!

I haven`t been around the forums for a few years due to getting wiped out by Hurricane Sandy. Just got back to building seriously in the last year or so. Glad to see familiar names. I hope to be active in the forums again soon...lots of great modelers and people on these forums!

Thanks Bish, glad to be back. I have one question, did anyone find out about Hans v Hammer? Just curious...I had some great conversations with him.

He came back briefly a couple of years ago, if i remember right under a different username, i think he had had issues with his account. But he has not been back since. Quite a few of the old names have dropped off the grid.

Welcome back, Len!

Yeah, I had the same question about Hammer a couple of months ago.  I couldn't remember even if he might have passed away.

Thanks Baron! What are you using to post your pics? I had Photobucket but I think my account was deleted. Is there something better to use?

Yeah, Photobucket has put its customers through two years of drama.  They were losing ad revenue as free account holders used ad blockers, so they eliminated the free accounts.  Now, if you want them to host your photos and link them, it's $400 a year.  I had a paid account, so I still had hosting through 2017.

I started using Postimage, but they've run into a problem of their own.  Last Wednesday, we Postimage customers saw a message on the site, announcing that their domain registration had lapsed.  We were then redirected to a fail-over site.  A couple of days after that, landing on the main Postimage page throws off a "Server not found" error.  It's been suggested that someone bought up the domain while it was expired and is holding it for ransom, demanding that Postimage pay to get it back.  Linked images still appear to be working, but you can't get to the site to upload more or do anything else.

I've seen some go with Imgur, and others to Fotki.  I don't know if Imgur offers free hosting or not.  Fotki has a small fee, I think.  But it's been around for a long time, so it might be worth it to pay for a subscription.

I just created an account for myself at Imgur.  It looks like it's free.  We'll see how hard or easy it is to work with.

Glad to see you back Len. I use postimage. They did have the issue. But now it's postimage.cc instead of postimage.org

Baron......TempestJohnny was saying that they solved the problem at Postimage...now it`s postimage.cc instead of .org.

Have you tried Flickr? It`s really simple to post from there.

Thanks, yeah, I got back on Postimage yesterday.  It looks like they created a new domain, postimages.org, which redirects to the .cc domain.  I'm messing around with Imgur, too, just to see.

The problem isn't getting the links to use to share images, but rather, it's getting acclimated on a different site, to see which features it offers, and where they're all tucked away.

Right! That`s what I`m dealing with right now...had Photobucket down and dreaded learning another program but discovered Flickr is simple. I`m only using these programs to post here, that`s it, not too worried about  bells and whistles . I`m going to check out Postimage tomorrow probably. I never realized there were so many of these photo sharing programs out there..lol.
