Welcome - again!
Posted by fright on Thursday, May 10, 2018 3:01 PM

Wow - 2017 threw me a roller coaster ending. I had surgery in August 2017 and I thought it went well. It did not. It caused complications and fluid began to build up in my chest cavity and collapse my right lung. 2nd surgery on chest on October 2nd to correct right lung issue. Complications once again. The doctors had to redue the chest surgery once again which then caused my liver (post-transplant 10yrs out) to go out of whack and also caused a psuedo gout in left knee. All I can say is GET OUT of hospitals as fast as you can. They'll kill you! LOL

With that, I'm back up and at it again. Since I've been gone, I see photobucket was kind enough to delete all of my pictures on my Bluenose build by Scientific. I'd like to repost pictures from my computer but am unable to do so. Huh?

Can anyone point me to a post that will explain how to post pictures now? Many thanks and, for a guy who lives in a city where they film 'The Walking Dead', it's great to be 'almost' alive again Pirate

Johnny - I'm not using any photo sites now other than I have all of my Bluenose build photos on my desktop. Do you know if I can upload these to this site? Thanks for responding Pirate

Glad to have you back with us Robert! Hope you get back to 100% good health.

Quite a few of us (me included) got the shaft from photobucket and are searching for another hosting site. Hope to find a good one soon so I can start posting pics again.

Jim - So glad to be on my feet again and I'm almost ninety-something percent again Smile Wow - I hope this site will figure out a way to allow moderlers to upload pics from there computers. It would make things much easier. Hope everything has been going well with you for the new year. I really appreciate all of the advice and feedback that others shared with me to help me along the way.

I hope to have the Bluenose finished by summer. I'm now starting to add furled sails on the schooner and hope to finish with the all running lines. My next kit that I will try to tackle will be Model Shipways HMS Bounty Launch (wood). This will give me my 1st try at planking a hull. I also have MS Phantom NY Pilot boat. On the back burner, I'm still slowly working on my 1:96 Connie by Revell. I also have Revell's America schooner waiting on a shelf.

Here's to good health for all of us - Cheers!!! Pirate

Welcome back, Robert, glad to hear you're up and around!

As for posting photos, it's as the others have said.  Nothing has changed.  We cannot load images directly to the forum, we still have to link them.  I'm using Postimage, which is free, but the owners have an annoying habit of not renewing their domain registration, which is a nuisance.

Others are using Imgur (I created an account there, too, till Postimage bought itself a new domain), which is also free of charge.  It might be worth it to try a paid site, like Fotki, on the chance that it might be a little more stable, but on the other hand, who knows what could happen tomorrow?  Photobucket was just fine, too, until they tried to staunch the bleeding of advertising income by eliminating all subscription types-free and paid-except their most expensive.

Fotki has been around for at least 15 years, though, according to a buddy of mine who has subscribed all that time.

In any case, I look forward to seeing your new builds!

Best regards,

Brad

Brad - it's good to get back to working on some models afer 4 months of surgeries and recovery! I looked up Postimages and updated my Bluenose build with photos from start to where I'm at now. I'll also check out Fotki's site.

I'm looking forward to some more wooden challenges down the road.Pirate

Hey Tanker ! I finally have gotten my butt into gear to start working on models once more. I hope that you are in good shape at this point and doing well. Once I finish this Bluenose build I will finally feel like a modeler. I certainly have appreciated everyone's feedback and knowledge in helping me along the way.

Cheers and here we go! Pirate
