Hello Ben,

Of all the warm, friendly greetings and great advice I've received your's was by far the best. I have a hobby shop, not Hobby Lobby or other big box, 3 blocks from my house and until I read your response it hadn't occured to me. I've actually been in there but I'm so stuck on Amazon Prime I don't stop to think of the local but I will now thanks to you.

Have a great day and a better tomorrow,

TJ Big Smile

Hey!, Welcome to the group!... You pose a great question and everyone has provided wonderful answers. Another option I suggest is depending on your location perhaps find a local hobby shop. They can provide some wonderful insight, have several products you can put in your hands, they should also have the materials you will need to complete your kit of choice. And above all, supporting your local hobby shop keeps them in business..

Glad to have you here...

Ben

I really like spruebrothers for online stuff, but theres lots of others.

I don't know much about ships, but for aircraft I prefer 1/48 scale (except for commercial stuff - 1/144 or 1/200) and I would recommend something like a the 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire MkI or their P-47D.  Both excellent kits with low parts count which means an enjoyable build you can complete easily :)

My 2 cents.

Welcome!

Thanks,

John

Howdy !

MedicTJ
Found a Revell kit from the 70's of the Blue Angles, four F-4 Phantoms, and my boyhood hobby is rekindled.

I had that same kit ( but my planes' "accidentally" got blown up.)

In 1977 I managed to purchase a whole case, Yes , that's right, A WHOLE case of Testors Blue Angel Blue  (12 cans)  I was planning on building more Blue Angel's stuff ( but I  never did ) It took me YEAR'S to get through it all. Lot's of Blue Angel Blue Funnycar's came out of my workspace ! Finally used the last can sometime in 1999 .

I need some sage advice. I need a good place to start. Aircraft was my favorite but ships were a close second.  Brand? Scale? Shopping sites? Any and all advice would be welcome.

Just close your eye's , and grab the first box you touch.

Welcome to FSM.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

I've receintly returned to the wonderful world of modeling. Found a Revell kit from the 70's of the Blue Angles, four F-4 Phantoms, and my boyhood hobby is rekindled. Since I haven't constructed any of these since about the same time my Blue Angels model came out I need some sage advice. I need a good place to start. Aircraft was my favorite but ships were a close second.  Brand? Scale? Shopping sites? Any and all advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance to all who reply,

TJ
