Yep! Military Hobbies is where I picked up

my first kit. You can read about it in this thread:http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/t/180064.aspx

Great place! I picked up a FineScale Modeler book on building and detailing model aircraft last weekend.

Darkhorse, since you have already found Military Hobbies, I will also recommend that you check out Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove, located near Chapman Av on Brookhurst. Lots of great stuff there to be found, they have their own ‘model club’, “Sprue Cutters”, that meets there twice a month on Tuesday evenings for building and camaraderie. And I will also invite you to come by an OC IPMS meeting sometime at your convenience. We meet on the third Friday evening of each month at the LaQuinta Inn off of Valley View and Orangethorpe in LaPalma.

You actually located in a modeling oasis area for clubs and shops. And there are plenty of fellow modelers around here to share the enjoyment of this hobby with.

BTW, nice work on your Spit!

Welcome lot's of good information here. I just got back at it a few months ago myself and am just enjoying the heck out of learning new stuff and relearning the old. A man's gotta have at least one hobby and more than one is an added bonus.

Thanks for the welcome! I’m in the city of Orange. But I’m originally from Canada (London, Ontario).

You have a great old school hobby shop in Orange, Military Hobbies. If you have not gone by there before, you need to check it out. They are very involved with and supportive of Orange County IPMS.

A little about me: I work as a photographer,

I "dabbled" a bit with Photography, I still have my Ancient Chinon CM-3 somewhere in a box.... gathering dust. I finally entered the 21'st Century about 8 year's ago, and got a cheap Digital camera. I have a Terrible time adjusting to it..... guess I got too use to actual Film.

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.

A lot of the members got here the same way. I got here in a little different way. My uncles started me building models at the ripe age of 6 and I'm still building at 77. I build whatever strikes my fancy and my wallet says OK. Favorites are WWI & WWII planes followed by Sailing ships.

If you need any help or have any questions/problems just ask. The members here are very knowledgeable and are always ready to help out.

Enjoy! Take care.

Hi

I just completed my first build, a Spitfire Mk.Vb. It’s been fun getting back into making scale models as an adult. No more slapping things together in a weekend like I did as a kid, taking things slow over 25 made the end result pretty satisfying. Although not perfect by any means, I learned a lot for my next build.

A little about me: I work as a photographer, taking photos of high end collectibles, mainly coins. Hobbies are my life!
