Welcome to the forum!  I look forward to seeing your build!

I built some sailing ships when I was a kid, Revell classic kits, the Constitution (the smaller-scale kit), the Golden Hind, and the Mayflower.  I thoroughly enjoyed building those ships.  Today, I'd probably let rigging the ships drive me crazy. Smile

Best regards,

Brad

Yes, mine was the Revell Yach America.  I added weight to it, so it also floated -- but I never blew it up, LOL!!!

Hello and welcome aboard this thing we call the "forum". While ships are not my primary area of effort, I have recently jumped into the water to try a 1/350 WW2 ship for one of our group builds. I have built the Constitution and United States in large scale (Monogram/Revell) many years ago but only to mixed success.

I greatly admire those of you who can master the planking, rigging, or P.E. in scale to come up with some of the stuff i see here. I hope to see your good works soon...

Ben

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.

Sailing ships are #2 on my list of builds as you can tell from my avatar. See you around.

Howdy !

Goatess954
I built my first model ship back in the late 1960s-early 1970s

That's about the same time I built my first sailing ship too ( Revell Spanish Gallion, 1974 I believe. )

I made a "GLORIOUS" mess of the rigging. But it floated, so I called it a sucsess .

( Then I blew it up...... also a sucsess !)

Anyway's , Welcome to FSM.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

I just joined this forum, and am amazed by the number of ship modelers here!  I'm a retired paralegal, and getting back into modeling -- I built my first model ship back in the late 1960s-early 1970s.  I stumbled across this site looking for help with the Revell model I'm working on, and will be posting that question in the Ships forum here.
