Hello, my name is Richard Trotter. I was an avid model builder and model railroader when I was a kid. I had a ceiling full of planes growing up. When I was really young I would build them and magically they would get painted overnight by my Dad out in his garage with whatever paint he had at hand. I remember a black P-38 with yellow and green props and a green and brown camoflaged F-14 Tomcat. As I got older I found out the wonders of an airbrush and wore the pages off of Shepard Paine's "How to Build Dioramas" book.
But as with so many, life and work got in the way and I stopped building. I kept collecting kits and purchasing all the cool modeling tools with the intent to start building again someday. So now that I'm approaching the big Five-Oh the bug has bitten again and the time has come to start working on these projects I started and have shelved for so long.
I've been lurking around the internet on Pinterest and Modeling "How To" sites and finally decided to join the forum here in Finescale Modeler. Hopefully I'll learn alot from the modelers here and maybe share a thing or two as well. I'm looking forward to getting some of these old kits built!
I just finished a vintage 1/48th scale Lindberg combo F6F Hellcat build and a 1/72nd Sword Beechcraft T-34C Turbomentor. I'm currently working on fabricating missing parts to build a vintage Lindberg 1/96th scale F4U-5 Corsair. Next in line is an Sn3 PBL Rio Grande Gondola (train), an unfinished U.S.S. Constitution model, started by my Uncle who recently passed away, and of all things, a 1/25th scale hardbody Corvair slot car conversion. (there's a Tamiya tank in there somewhere too :-) Gotta make up for lost time.
Due Regards, Richard Trotter
