Hi from Pa.
Posted by JBark on Saturday, August 3, 2019 1:38 PM

I'm John from southeastern Pa. and have gotten back into modelling after 10+ off. I'm between jobs so I will probably be building very slowly. My preference is armor, armor and more armor. That said there are a few planes I'd like to build, like a P-61 'cause my dad told me he worked on them at Clark Field. I'm a skilled woodworker and really enjoy the similarities between the two crafts. I'll be asking a whole lot of questions and know this is the best place to find the answers.

Welcome to the Forums John! Glad to have you with us.

Ask away, that's the reason we're here.

I'm in Narvon which is right near the Morgantown exit of the Pa. Turnpike.

Enjoy.

Welcome, John!

I was in PA last week. Spent three days at a reunion in Howard, (wheredat?- between Blanchard and State College).

Three days in Philly. We had a great time although it was hot.

AFA the P-61, I'm a fan too and would strongly suggest building either the Dragon 1/72 model or the Great Wall 1/48 model. I'd stay away from the Monogram one. It takes a bunch of work to get it acceptable, and the detail is out-of-date.

Any questions on that aircraft, let me know.

If you're interested, DelVal meets on the first Friday of every month.  Our next meeting is coming up on the 6th.  We meet at Artisan's Hall, 8100 Roosevelt Blvd.  Meetings start around 7:30 with guys showing off what they've brought, though that starts earlier, and a bunch of us get something to eat at the pizza place next door before that.

Our website is https://www.dvsm.org/, but we also use a Facebook group as our online forum.

If you decide to come out to a meeting, maybe we'll get to meet in person.

Best regards,
Brad

FYI John, the old Morgantown Mall is now a giant Auto Museum. If you're into cars, be sure to get around to see it. It's free too. Open on Wed. 4-11 and Sat. 11-4. Lots and lots of great cars that are mostly "barn finds". The main 2 rooms are all for sale with some on commission. "If the price is right", the rest are for sale too. Most of them will need quite a bit of work. There is also car shows outside on the days that they are open. It's free and anyone can bring their car to show.

Maybe I'll see you there. It's only about 10 minutes from my house.
