You've picked a great time to start building World War One biplanes.  Look for a company called Wingnut Wings.  It was started by the movie director, Peter Jackson, who is an aviation enthusiast.  That company produces the finest 1/32 WWI subjects ever made.

In other scales, there are some very good kits available from companies like Eduard out of the Czech Republic.  And there is a great selection of kits in 1/72 scale.

And we have a huge selection of tools and supplies, too.  It's a good time to be a modeler!

I look forward to seeing your builds, and I'd like to see your carvings, too.

I should mention, too, that if you have any interest in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror subjects, that there is an annual show, held in Louisville.  The show's website is here:  https://wonderfest.com/

Even if you're not interested in the subjects, it's still worth visiting, to see the talent on display.

Brad,..thanks for all the info. I have wingnuts saved,..looks like great products. I'll take all the recomendations i can get for models, tools, info sources etc. I'll probably load up on some come Christmas.

I actually work in Louisville so I appreciate the heads up on the sci-fi show as well. I have a high appreciation for many types of handcrafted work whatever the genre. My bucket list is pretty short but it is all related to different hand made arts.

If you have not yet been to Scale Reproductions, I highly recommend heading over there.

Brian, Martin and the rest of the gang are great folks and it is a very well stocked hobby shop.

Will do,...I mainly work weekend nights but I have semi frequent days through the week that I do pick up. Considering it's 110% better than anything within 30 minutes of my house by looking at the pics online I'm pretty excited. Really just figured I'd have to order about everything online. Thats ok but being able to walk in and see some inventory in person is a big +.  -Aaron

    Don't mean to butt in here, I just have too. AAron-You have a truly old skill. Did you know that? The Giraffe is great. I take breaks from modeling and carve Hummingbirds. You will find that talent very useful in the modeling realm. T.B.

T.B. I started the antler carving when I changed careers and went back to school about 8 or 9 years ago to relieve some stress. As per my earlier post I've always been an outdoor guy with and interest in wildlife/art/ and specifically obsessed with antler. Sooner or later I guess I was bound to work with it. I also like things with a germanic flair,..a little history mixed in doesn't hurt,...I guess it's complicated lol..Some of the models I see posted online amaze me,..I just want to take a shot at it. Probably a diorama or 2 in my future I hope. I'm goin to dive into one hopefully around christmas when this carving is finished. I appreciate your comments,..here is a link to my instagram account with some of my piddlins posted. Little bit of everything on it from scrimshaw to antler repair. I'd love see some hummingbirds you've done, we have feeders out and I'm a bit of a birder. Haven't carved any yet but on my to do list. Thanks again,..- Aaron

    I love that Scrimshaw! I expected no less from someone in your state! Now the hardest part of carving a HummingBird is what? Getting him to sit still long enough LOL.LOL.LOL.

      Now that antler work is no slouch either. I didn't know you did leatherwork, too. You can and will find that a lot of tools you have now can be used for modeling. Keep on keeping on, okay?    Tanker-Builder

     thank you for the kind words. I see you have a model ship in your avatar...and a captains hat in your signature. You perhaps may already be aware of these but my all time favorite art of any kind is the Napoleonic War bone ship models made by French POW's. I have a couple of books on the subject,.......so little time to pursue all these things. Best Regards -Aaron
