New WWII modeller joining in.
Posted by BrickBait on Thursday, October 3, 2019 10:48 AM

Hello in here.

Thank you for accepting my membership.

I am fairly new in small scale modeling, but have been collecting and running H0 modeltrains for many years.

I have begun a little 1/72 adventure that should end up with a large diorama, and the center piece will be the ModellCollect Austrätt Fort kit.

Hope to gather some inspiration and tricks of the trade in here :)

Kind regards - Frank

Hey Frank.  Some of the best modelers I've ever met came from the train world.  Welcome!

Thanks,

John

Thank you Guys.

I got some ideas brewing, and one of them is allready under planning.

A large diorama with funktions. Main centerpiece will be the ModellCollect Austrätt Fort kit.

So we are talking a diorama showcasing Battery Oerlandet in Norway 1944.

Diorama will be around 120x70cm.

My plan is to make the gun turret traverse  and barrels elevated and lowered by turning some potentiometers, connected to a Arduino board and servos.

Surrounding bunkers and housing will have light installed, and parts of the main gun bunker will be displayed as cut-thrue feature.

Or, that is what i Hope to do :D

Welcome Brickbait.  That is a wonderful idea, Battleship Gneisenau's Turret in a Diorama.

It is going to be HUGE!

Welcome to the forums, Frank!  Hope you'll post some pictures of your diorama as you work on it.  Us modelers can sure use the experience you bring with you from the model train world!

Welcome to the forum, Frank!  I look forward to seeing this diorama and others, as you go on in the hobby.  I had a look at that kit:

http://www.modelcollect.com/austratt-fort-coastal-artillery-site-triple-28cm-turret-caesar-2-flak-40-zwilling-include-

and it will make a cool diorama.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Frank;

Another Frank to add to my bunch of Frank friends. I mess with Trains at the New Braunfels ,Tx. Train Museum. So---I have those skills as well as all the plastic and paper ships I have built. It'll be nice to have your input. T.B.

Thank you all Big Smile

I will for sure add some photos when the diorama takes shape.

I got some mechanics and hardware issues to figure out before i can build the foundations for it all Smile
