Welcome! You should start this post in "General Modeling Discussion" and you'll get a lot more looks. Or "Ships", where you'll get fewer but interest from people who can answer.

Putting aside brand question for a bit.

For scale, there are a number of factors; storage space and time of build being two prominent ones. Expense a close third, followed by availability. And you mentioned a diorama. If it's one, it's huge in any scale.

Time of build and availability are the only two choices that aren't personal for you. A 1/350 scale model is eight times larger than a 1/700 scale model. A 1/700 scale aircraft carrier might run around $ 30 - $ 40 to buy and 3-4 months to build. A 1/350 scale aircraft carrier might run around $ 80- $100 to buy and 6-12 months to build.

As far as availability, when you say "each class", I assume you mean general types. Otherwise, just the USN alone had three classes of fleet carriers, three one offs, and probably five or more escort classes and a light carrier class or two. Destroyers, I have no idea but probably at least eight.

In terms of the more general types, in 1/ 350 you'll have no trouble finding each of the four types you list in plastic for the IJN and USN. You'll have no problem with the DKM except for the lone aircraft carrier, which isn't around in 1/350 AFAIK.

The RN is harder. As the UK is a metric country, their scales are decimal for aircraft carriers.

All of these factors become simpler in 1/700, in particular if resin kits are considered. They are just, well, smaller.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Welcome;

 The choice of models HAS to be up to you. We all have our favorites. Myself,If someone has a ship I want in the right scale then I will buy it.

I like 1/350,but space gets used up fast,1/700 is small,but BB's and CV's come out to a decent size.Theres no end to details now especially with home 3D printing of parts,so like Jim says,check out the Ships forum for more info.

Which company depends on your subject,Tamiya,Trumpeter,Hasegawa,and Aoshima are ones I have built.

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.

My 2 cents. Some people like Vanilla and some like Chocolate. It's the same with modelers.  Some like kits from one manufacturer and some like those from others. If you check out the "Ships" section of these Forums, you can see what the members build and what they think about them. If you ask which ones they like you will probably get all kinds of answers. My suggestion is to check out that section and then pick the one that YOU feel would best suit  you. If you like what you see, great. If you don't, then you can switch to another. Remember, the only person you have to please is yourself.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck. Looking forward to seeing your builds. Sounds like a great project.

It has been years since I have built a model and I am looking to get back into it. My question is, what is the most accurate model brand? I would like to build warships from the USN, UK, IJN and KM navies from WW2. I want them to all be the same scale, either 350 or 700. Not 100% sure on that yet. And of each navy I want 2 of each class of ship including destroyers, cruisers, battleships/battlecruisers and aircraft carriers. I know the time involved in such an endeavor but the diorama in the end will be worth it.

Thanks for your patience and your advice.
