Welcome to the Forums Michael! Glad to have you aboard.

I started at the grand old age of 6 (1946) and never stopped. You name it and I've probably built at least 1 or 2 of them. Favorites are WWI and WWII planes followed by sailing ships as you can see in my avatar. Lost count of the stash but haven't bought any new ones for quite a while. Have enough to keep me building for the next 100 or so years.

If you have problems or questions, ask away. That's what we're here for. The members are very knowledgeable and ready to help out. We've all been there at one time or another. Looking forward to seeing pics of your builds.

Good luck and enjoy.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

Back Where I Belong...
Posted by Canuck Modeller on Saturday, February 1, 2020 7:12 AM

Hi all. I was an avid modeller as a teen and ***. Mom had a membership for me in the "Model of the month club" (yes it was a thing). I remember building everything from Viking Ships to V-2 rockets and cars to cannons. I didn't care what the subject was as long as I was building.

Like many, as I got older, my model building interest started to fade. Girls, high school sports, video games and a part-time job to pay for the aforementioned got in the way...

I just didn't have the same passion for the hobby as I once had.

Fast-forward to University and a friend of mine showed me his collection of WW II Allied kits and "built models". I got the bug again and started reading FSM and buying Tamiya armour kits. I realized I had the model builder "bug" again! So during my University years I built a few kits (nothing like the production of my early years) and enjoyed myself.

However, I started to amass quite a collection of unbuilt kits!

When I graduated and entered the work force my hobby time dwindled and I found myself buying more kits and building less...

Marriage and a house only contributed to have less hobby time...

Well fast forward to now. I still have those unbuilt kits but more hobby time! I have been "lurking" on some model building sites including FSM and am ready to enter the "build phase" of the hobby again!

Do I have questions?

Many! I hope I don't bore too many of you with them :)

Michael
